Field Diaries is a podcast sharing personal observations and experiences shaped by time spent in wild places. Rather than interviews or a traditional hosted format, each episode is a short, unfiltered diary entry from someone living closely with the natural world. The result is an intimate collection of voices, places and moments, from changing weather and remote landscapes to the quieter experiences of being outdoors.
The identity was created to reflect the calm, personal and contemplative nature of the podcast, while avoiding some of the more expected visual language associated with outdoor and adventure brands. Field notes, scrapbooks and diary entries became key references for the visual language. The idea of each episode as a small record of a particular moment in time informed an identity that feels collected, personal and slightly tactile, rather than overly polished or commercial.
At the centre of the identity is a simplified Edelweiss flower. Historically associated with mountaineers and explorers, the flower carries ideas of adventure, courage and quiet resilience. These associations felt particularly fitting for Field Diaries, while the symbol itself is less immediately recognisable than more conventional outdoor imagery, giving the brand a quieter and more intriguing point of reference.
The Edelweiss was reduced into an abstract, stamp-like emblem, bringing together the feeling of a found mark in a field journal with the idea of a personal insignia. The enclosed lower leaves and more open, irregular bloom introduce a sense of wildness and movement, reflecting the podcast’s interest in both exploring the natural world and the internal experiences that come with it.
Alongside the icon, the typography and wider identity were designed to feel gentle, timeless and understated. The overall system gives Field Diaries a sense of place without tying it to one particular landscape, allowing the stories themselves to remain at the centre of the brand.

Jas is incredibly talented and an absolute pleasure to work with. She effortlessly brought harmony to the many ideas we threw her way, went above and beyond, and shaped our vision into a cohesive, distinctive brand that captured exactly what we were hoping for. We're so glad we trusted her with Field Diaries' identity.
